Chiropetalum bir bitki cins of aile Euphorbiaceae ilk olarak 1832'de cins olarak tanımlanmıştır.[3][2] Nispeten kurak bölgelerde yaygındır. Kuzeyinde ve Güney Amerika itibaren Teksas -e Uruguay.[1][4][5][6]
