  • Richard Strauss (1864–1949), German composer of 2 symphonies; also symphonic—in name if not technique—are the tone poems Symphonia Domestica, Op. 53 (1903) and An Alpine Symphony, Op. 64 (1915). Onun Sonatina No. 2 for 16 Wind Instruments (1946) was given the title Symphony for Wind Instruments by the publisher, though the composer did not use the word.
